I am a mother and a grandmother. My three children were born at home and raised naturally. I am a clinical herbalist with a deep understanding of alternative medicine and life-styles.
I have dedicated my life to learning and practicing the art of midwifery. I was trained through apprenticeship under wonderful, compassionate midwives who taught me both the skills and the values of women-centered care.
I am licensed to practice midwifery in Colorado and New Mexico and nationally certified as a Certified Professional Midwife-that means I have meet the minimum requirements in education, training, and experience to practice legally. There is however, much more to this practice than the bare minimums.
I have been a midwife for over 35 years with twelve hundred plus births. I represent the Four Corner’s most experienced practice in home births. This has given me a deep appreciation for the unique challenges facing women today and an understanding of the natural process of birth. Culturally, we live in a fear-based society that is at it’s most vocal concerning the process of birth. Overcoming the biases generated by that fear requires education and an understanding of what is normal and natural. “I am passionate about working with women and families and empowering them to experience the joys of natural childbirth. ” Together, we create an environment where change is not only possible but is actively pursued.
